Villages Announce 'Upon the Horizon' EP, Plot East Coast Tour
Published Oct 28, 2020Cape Breton indie folksters Villages have announced plans to follow up last year's self-titled debut album with a new collection recorded in the early days of quarantine. Their new EP, Upon the Horizon, will arrive through Sonic Records on November 13.
In support of the new work — mixed by legendary indie rock producer Phil Ek — the band have also scheduled a limited run of East Coast tour dates, including stops in Charlottetown, Fredricton and Berwick. They'll kick off the mini-tour on November 5 and wrap up toward the end of the month, on November 27.
The band credit the natural world as a source of inspiration for their new three-track EP, describing its title track as a "COVID daydream."
"Being locked up naturally conjured visions of escapism," the band's Matt Ellis explained in a statement. "Escaping to the wilderness has always been a way to find peace, but when even that was not an option it was yet another thing that had been taken for granted."
Their new body of work arrives ahead of a forthcoming full-length collection of new music, due sometime in 2021.
For now, they've yet to release any tracks from Upon the Horizon, but you can watch a preview of the EP ahead of its November release below. There, you can also find the record's tracklisting, as well as the band's upcoming tour dates.
