Published Sep 21, 2020Earlier this year, allegations of a "toxic" work culture at The Ellen DeGeneres Show emerged. WarnerMedia investigated, and three top executive producers were fired. Now, Ellen herself has discussed the controversy on air.
During the Season 18 premiere of Ellen today, she opened the monologue by suggesting sarcastically that she had had a "great... super terrific summer" before addressing the allegations head on.
"I learned that things happened here that never should have happened," she said. "I take that very seriously and I want to say I'm so sorry to the people that were affected. I know that I'm in a position of privilege and power and I realize that with that comes responsibility. I take responsibility for what happens at my show."
She went on to add, "Today, we are starting a new chapter."
